Bob Dzugan Co-founder & President buyCASTINGS.com, Inc.

Bob Dzugan is a well known leader in the metal casting industry. His casting knowledge led him to GE Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati, OH where he became a Management Lead Engineer in the Material Applications group. While at GE, Bob was awarded 2 patents for the unique manufacture of cast components for high temperature applications. Both of these patents’ processes are in production today on military and commercial aircrafts.

In 1999, Bob co-founded buyCASTINGS.com along with business associate Neil Chaudhry. In 2000 buyCASTINGS was spun off as a for profit company.

Bob began his career at Newport News Shipbuilding as a Welding Engineer. He moved on to Howmet Hampton as a Process Engineer which led to the Chief Engineer position at Hitchiner where he was involved in setting up the first production facility for the CLV casting process. His next achievement was Chief Engineer in the large castings group at TRW Minerva, now known as PCC Minerva where he received a TRW Aircraft Components Group Technical Award for dimensional compensation of waxes. Bob took his casting knowledge to GE Aircraft Engines as the Management Lead Engineer in the Materials Applications group. In addition to his patents at GE he also received the 1990 Badger award for outstanding technical achievement in materials and manufacturing process technology in areas of creativity, state of the art advances, and applications that provide product pre-eminence and represent lasting contribution to engineering. Bob has designed and implemented a wax/metal correlation program which eliminated metal straightening of castings and resulted in a Technical Excellence award.

Later in Bob's career he was offered the position Director of Casting Technology for the State of Ohio’s Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC), assisting Ohio’s foundries in implementing new technology. He managed an outreach program funded by DOE (Department of Energy) and State of Ohio to inform Ohio foundries of energy saving projects and opportunities available through DOE

Bob has been Chairman of the American Foundry Society’s Investment casting committee as well as Chairman of the local AFS Chapter. He also served as a Board of Director member for nearly 20 years.
