Where Does This Money Come From?

The SBIR law mandates that each federal agency with a budget for extramural research or R&D that exceeds $100 million must establish an SBIR program. What this means is that there are government agencies that must set aside 2.5% of their total R&D budgets to fund SBIR projects. And, here are the amounts that were set aside for FY2004 by various agencies:
       DoD - $999 Million
       HHS/NIH - $574 Million
       NASA - $108 Million
       Energy - $102 Million
       NSF - $94 Million
       Homeland Security - $33 Million
       Agriculture - $18 Million
       Education - $9 Million
       EPA - $8 Million
       Commerce(NOAA/NIST) - $7 Million
       Transportation - $4 Million
That's about $2 Billion set aside for small businesses, defined as less than 500 people, as in almost EVERY foundry left standing in this great land.
Here are some areas of interest if you would like to work with buyCASTINGS teams, to participate in project teams and to submit your breakthrough idea after signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement. SBIR is just one of the many government programs designed to help our innovation, productivity, and technology deployment efforts in order to keep our defense, energy, and commercial sectors competitive and at the leading edge. BuyCASTINGS personnel, with expertise in collaborative team projects, technology transfer, and commercialization, are able to use their large network of resource providers to tap into these great grant programs that every metal casting foundry should utilize.
