FOPAT Productions, Inc. (FPI) has hired two new employees to operate the new FOPAT foam pattern machine and will continue to conduct R&D on the original machine. Bo Mosley, Product Technician and Chris Loper, Process Technician,
started working with buyCASTINGS and FPI in late November. Both have undergone extensive training on the new foam pattern production machine.

FOPAT Production Inc. (FPI), Miamisburg, OH has moved into a new 14,000 sq ft facility to commercialize of a foam pattern-making technology. With new injection machines in place, FPI is ready to produce foam patterns for investment casting foundries and other component manufacturers. After $1.5M and 2+ years R&D, we are now in production and taking orders!

Good news for Kovatch Castings in NE Ohio! Kovatch submitted an advanced energy funding proposal last October and was granted an award of $1 million to help them replace three inefficient ovens with two energy-efficient gas ovens at its foundry.

FOPAT Production Inc., a spin-off company of buyCASTINGS.com, Inc. is engaged in the development and production of FOam PATtern for the investment casting industry. It will replace wax in the lost-wax process and overcome the limitations of wax such as shrinkage and handling issues.

buyCASTINGS was approached in March 2010, by a local company to assist in a project to quickly produce stainless steel castings. It turns out that the end user was a leading local manufacturer of ice cream. Their previous supplier had gone out of business and they weren't sure where to go for their castings. What was so important to them is that they were building a new plant to expand their business. Critical parts were needed for their custom made manufacturing machinery.

In September 2009, FOPAT Production, Inc.(FPI) was awarded two contracts from DLA (Defense Logistics Agency). One is a continuation (Phase II) of an earlier SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) contract and the second an IBIF II (Industrial Base Innovation Fund) contract.

A few years ago, a gunnery sergeant urgently needed a metal part in the field. He Googled for the part and found it on buyCASTINGS.com’s website. The sergeant emailed Bob Dzugan, President of buyCASTINGS.com, asking if Bob could help the military folks get parts quickly. He explained to Bob that at times there are complex multi-million dollar weapon systems that are down because of one or two critical parts that are in short supply.

Dayton Development Coalition, a Miami Valley Economic Development Organization has recently awarded buyCASTINGS’ team a $10,000 Development Services Grant. The project kick-off meeting started in mid-March 2011. The grant is being managed by the Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC) a non-profit agency of Kettering, Ohio.

There is a great quote about the metal castings industry and that is "Castings are essential building blocks of U.S. industry".  Not a single manufacturing machine would work without castings and, without manufacturing machinery our economy would grind to a screeching halt.
