buyCASTINGS in cooperation with South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) have been contracted by the US Army Tank Command to build a demonstration model of a TACtical FABrication (TACFAB) facility or mobile foundry to be deployed in shipping containers to battlefield locations to help support the warfighter in their needs for urgently needed replacement cast parts.

The program has been under way for 6 months and equipment is being put in place and melting and pouring has been taking place.

A tour of the facility and the technology being used will be discussed.

Co-located in the same facility is the FOPAT Production Inc operation where foam patterns are produced for the investment casting process. FOPAT, is a foam pattern that replaces wax in the investment casting process. A short tour will also be conducted.
